Jana, I know you’re familiar with HistoricAerials.com — I was looking at the Memphis set today and was amazed at the difference from 1956 to 1971. It’s like a nuclear bomb went off all around the Beale area and other parts of town. It happened, I read, between 1968 and 1971, hundreds of buildings razed in an urban renewal program. I think the 1973 recession happened before they could rebuild, and so the city just looked like that through most of the seventies. I wonder if your friend remembers any of that.

Terrific series! Thank you for sharing your experience. A friend transplanted from Memphis insisted on giving us some Rendezvous rub and sauce when I mentioned my husband loves barbecue – I know she misses its easy availability so when she brought back a few from a recent trip and shared her precious ration, I thought that was very generous.

I feel your pain, dear brother. Being a lonely inhibited introvert in a strange place is PAINFUL at best. We wouldn’t want to bother anyone, now would we? I laugh at myself when I watch the more extrovert among us walk into a room mouth first with no clue that their noise might be a problem. Sigh. I’m glad you found the pack and had a great evening!!
